Miss Tyesha High, 2024-2025 Miss UNCF, Miss Asia Brown, 2024-2025 Miss Texas College, and Miss Ashlyn Jacobs prepare to present gifts to a family at the Angel Tree Celebration

On Wednesday, December 4, the Texas College Family gifted 60 children Christmas presents through the College's Angel Tree. What has now become a Christmas tradition on campus, the Angel Tree is an annual initiative benefitting families in need during the holiday season. Coordinated by the reigning Miss Texas College, students, faculty, and staff select a child's "angel" from the tree, which includes their name, age, clothing sizes, and items from their Christmas list. Then, out of their own pockets, the Texas College Family purchases gifts to ensure that each child has a present to open on Christmas morning.

The gifts were made available for pickup by the families at the Angel Tree Celebration, hosted in Texas College’s McKinney Hall Connector. However, this event was not a mere distribution process; instead, Miss Asia Brown, 2024-2025 Miss Texas College, ensured that the occasion was a family affair to not soon be forgotten. Adorned in red and green, Texas College students, faculty, and staff welcomed families into the festive celebration. With Christmas décor and favorite holiday tunes, the atmosphere undoubtedly exuded holiday cheer.

The Angel Tree Celebration included a short program with prayer, brief remarks from students, staff, and administrators, as well as a Christmas musical selection from Miss L'Deejia Shackelford, Texas College Choir soloist. While the families retrieved their gifts, students, faculty, and staff served milk, cookies, candy canes, and other traditional holiday treats to provide an atmosphere filled with fellowship and the spirit of Christmas. With the conclusion of yet another successful year of the Angel Tree, it remains evident that the Texas College Family continues to personify the College's Core Value of Community Service.
