Senior Roosevelt Williams, who also serves as the 2024-2025 Student Government Association Secretary, was selected as one of 60 HBCU scholars to attend The 2024 Thrill of Possibility Summit presented by The Black Effect Podcast Network, Nissan Motors, and iHeart Radio in Nashville, Tennessee, in November.

Bringing together the best of The Black Effect Podcast Network, founded by Charlamagne tha God, Nissan USA, and ambitious HBCU scholars, The Thrill of Possibility Summit served as a professional development weekend in Nashville to learn, engage, and make connections. The Summit included hosts from the Black Effect shows, Nissan USA thought leaders, and entrepreneurs from a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) industries to create super panels, breakout sessions and mentoring opportunities that tackled topics most relevant, current, and necessary for scholars today.

"Attending the Summit was a life-changing experience," noted Mr. Williams. "The experience of meeting high-level executives and one-on-one mentoring sessions was invaluable and very helpful, especially with my plans to graduate this coming semester.”

The Summit concluded with a closing party that featured a special performance by popular singer and songwriter YG Marley, as well as gifts for the scholars such as bomber jackets, studio headphones, and a personalized bag.

Upon completion of his baccalaureate degree from Texas College, Mr. Williams plans to further his education by pursuing a master's and doctoral degree, while also teaching high school. Upon the completion of his graduate work, Mr. Williams aspires to enter the field of educational administration as either a high school principal or president of a college or university.
