Texas College Steer Football has “turned the corner” this season. Currently sitting at 7-3, the Steers continue to emerge victorious. The 2024 season began in Fayette, Missouri, to face off against the Central Methodist University Eagles at Davis Field, in which they secured a 26-15 season opening win. The Steers would remain undefeated after their week two game against Westgate Christian University with a big 54-3 win at home. However, they evened out the win-loss column, dropping the next two games on the road against Ottawa University Arizona and Langston University.

The Steers wouldn’t allow those losses to deter them, winning the following game against North American University (NAU) 25-21.Texas College’s win against NAU initiated a four-game win streak, defeating Arkansas Baptist College at Homecoming, followed by an overtime win on the road against Louisiana Christian University, and then another victory at home against Oklahoma Panhandle State University, which secured their sixth win on the season. This win is notable, as it cemented their first above .500 season in recent memory.
Regrettably, the Steers' win streak would snap with a loss on the road to the undefeated Texas Wesleyan University Rams, currently ranked #7 in NAIA's Top 25 Ratings. The Steers, however, again, remained undeterred.

"Win the day; win the weekend," commented Head Coach Jarrail Jackson when discussing Steer Football's mental preparation. "We go 1-0 or 0-1 every weekend. We have a 24 hour rule to enjoy the win or to sulk the loss, then it's on to the next one. We teach those guys to stay hungry and they do."
This past weekend, Texas College faced off against Wayland Baptist University. With an explosive start from the Pioneers, the Steers found themselves down 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. With one game remaining, the Texas College Steers plan to find their eighth win tomorrow against the Nelson University Lions. As their final home game, the Steers will celebrate their student-athlete seniors prior to kickoff scheduled for 2:00 P.M. at Clyde-Perkins Stadium. While it is the last game on the schedule, Texas College's season may not end tomorrow. Currently in playoff contention, if the Steers can secure a victory against the Lions then they may be positioned for a playoff berth, dependent upon how other select Sooner Athletic Conference games pan out.
