TEXAS COLLEGE ANNOUNCES: Texas College’s Own Angel Cummings to Perform the National Anthem at the Kansas City Chiefs Game

Texas College proudly celebrates one of its exceptional student-leaders, Angel Cummings, who has been selected to perform the National Anthem at the Kansas City Chiefs football game on December 7, 2025, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Angel’s journey exemplifies the mission of Texas College — to empower students through education, spiritual development, and community engagement — and reflects the College’s vision of producing graduates who are competent, compassionate, and committed to service.

Now studying at Texas College in Tyler, Texas, Angel balances her academic excellence with her creative passion and community leadership. She currently serves as Miss Sophomore 2025–2026 and the 2025–2026 Choir Administrator, roles that demonstrate her integrity, initiative, and dedication to uplifting others. In addition, she is an active member of the Pre-Alumni Council and Sisters Supporting Sisters, organizations that emphasize mentorship, faith, and unity.

Angel is a proud member of the Texas College Choir, under the direction of Mr. Charles Shaw, whose leadership and musical excellence continue to inspire students across campus. Mr. Shaw’s commitment to nurturing young talent has not only strengthened the College’s choral program but has also provided a supportive environment where students like Angel can grow artistically and spiritually.

“It’s an incredible honor to represent Texas College and my hometown on such a big stage,” Angel shared. “Singing the National Anthem for the Kansas City Chiefs is a dream come true — and it’s a reminder of how faith, hard work, and education can open doors. I’m deeply grateful for my professors, classmates, and especially Mr. Shaw, whose guidance has meant so much to me.”

“Angel truly embodies the spirit and mission of Texas College,” said Mr. Andrew Bates, Director of Public Relations. “Her talent, faith, and drive to serve reflect what we strive to instill in all our students - Life-long learning, leadership and service.

From church choirs to campus stages and now to one of the most prominent sports arenas in America, Angel’s journey continues to inspire. Her performance at the Kansas City Chiefs game will mark yet another milestone in a growing career defined by faith, perseverance, and purpose.
