QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in public relations, journalism or closely related field required; two to five years of progressive experience in public relations in higher education or non-profit organizations required. Corporate experience a plus. Proven skills in management and as a communications strategist, planner, adviser and spokesperson desired. Supervisory experience also preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills essential.
PRIMARY GOAL: To develop and manage all public relations and communications programs. Direct public relations and special communications programs in support of Texas College’s mission, goals, and objectives. Liaison for the college in working with the national alumni organization and the various college-related chapters.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage media relations activities for the College community;
• Design, develop and implement programs, activities and events to promote positive institutional relations with the communities surrounding the campus;
• Oversee the coordination and implementation of internal communications in all of its various forms to help keep the campus aware of and excited about the progress of the College;
• Direct the work of external vendors, including and especially photographers, contracted to provide services for the College from time to time;
• Provide creative consultation and script supervision for all video and audio products developed to promote Texas College;
• Works cooperatively with members of the Alumni Association to achieve collectively the goals and objectives of the College;
• Develop for review and approval of the President new administrative policies designed to codify procedures and practices to support the efficient attainment of College goals and objectives pertaining to all forms of communications and external outreach;
• Develop or supervise the development of creative/marketing products, including advertisements, to promote student achievement or performances in the arts, athletics, education, technology, or academic competition; and
• Coordinate sports information dissemination with the Athletics Department; perform other duties as assigned.
