|Institutional Overview: Texas College is a four-year, coeducational, private, liberal arts institution, located in Tyler, Texas. The College has been in existence for 125 years. The heart of the mission of the College (as adopted by the Board Fall 2019) is to “… prepare students with competencies in critical thinking related to the knowledge, skills and abilities as defined in areas of study. Additionally, the College shall provide an environment to inspire intellectual, spiritual, ethical moral and social development, which empowers graduates to engage in life-long learning, leadership and service.” The College offers baccalaureate degree programs in: Biology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, English, Interdisciplinary Studies, Liberal Studies, Mathematics, Music, Religion, Social Work and Sociology. The College also offers two associate degrees in Early Childhood Education and General Studies.
Primary Responsibilities: The Vice President for Business and Finance is the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive Cabinet. The Vice President reports directly to the president and is responsible for the planning and management of the College’s fiscal and business operations. The responsibilities of the Vice President include oversight of the financial services and operations of the campus as well as responsibility for budget development and administration; internal auditing; business and auxiliary services; human resources; information technology; and safeguarding of the College’s physical assets. Additionally, the Vice President for Business and Finance represents the College’s fiscal interests with investment foundations, the Board of Trustees, general administration of Texas College, and various state, federal and private agencies.
Qualifications: The requirements for the position minimally include a graduate degree (master’s level) in Business Administration. It is also preferred that the successful candidate will be a certified public accountant with a minimum of five years’ experience as a senior fiscal administrative officer in higher education.
