The sociology major offers foundational knowledge and skill development required of professions in academia, government, business, religion, education, community agencies, etc. The diverse courses allow students to apply critical thinking skill in the exploration of issues vital to everyday living in communities, the nation, and around the globe. Study topics such as crime and deviance, demography, family and gender, politics, the economy, religion, the city, education, intergroup relations, mass media and social class increase student interest in and life-long commitment to community service.
