From the Office of the President
Greetings Alumni and Friends!
This is an exciting time as Texas College continues to celebrate her 125th Anniversary. This is a signal honor to have provided more than a century of educational services in fulfillment of the College's mission and core values. Texas College's success is a direct result of the embrace and support of alumni, and a community of friends and supporters who endorse the ideal that “An educated community leads to productive community. "
For 125 years, Texas College has made significant strides in providing a quality education for students who enter her doors. As a result, she has graduated doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, business leaders, politicians, clergy, actors and singers. The diversity among career preparations is representative of the liberal arts education that Texas College offers students.
Recently, the College has undergone changes that are value-added for both the campus and surrounding community. These changes assist with the living/learning aspects of an institution of higher learning. Specifically, over the past year, we have:
- Completed renovation of historic Martin Hall;
- Completed the build of a new resident hall and renovated two existing resident halls;
- Completely renovated the Band-Music Hall;
- Completed outdoor/indoor fitness areas and athletic complex;
- Increased enrollments by 13 percent;
- Increased scholarship awards to deserving students; and
- Improved academic performances in STEM related fields and Teacher Education.
As the College moves forward, it is our vision to further expand the campus' facilities to assist with the address of our mission. In this regard, we look to have a Health Wellness Center that will assist with healthcare and educational attainment for our students and the community in which we serve. We also believe that it is necessary to have a College Chapel that will assist with facilitation of spiritual development that will continue to instill the core values of integrity, social responsibility, community service and spiritual development. Additionally, this administration envisions adding majors that address civic and public affairs as well as physical fitness; increasing internships and students ' professional development opportunities; and broadening learning opportunities locally and abroad. While these initiatives are in the early stages of development, we are confident that with your support, it will come to fruition.
Join us as we celebrate 125 years of excellence in education! We invite you to be an integral part of the initiatives set forth and the future growth of the college by making an investment in her future as a "Purple and Gold" member. Specifically, you are invited to make a gift of $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund and receive a commemorative gift that designates you with the status "Purple and Gold" member. Your name will be listed in our annual publication as a "Purple and Gold" member who has contributed $1,000 or more to the college for 2019-2020. Donations are tax deductible and checks are to be made payable to the Texas College Annual Fund. You may contribute by returning your gift in the envelope enclosed. Thank you in advance for your support of Texas College.
