Texas College observes remote synchronous instruction defined as a two-way, real-time/live, virtual instruction between instructors and students when students are not on campus and observing COVID-19 distance requirements.
In this method, the required amount of instructional time related to courses will be scheduled each day, and communication is generated when attendance is recorded daily at a locally selected time utilizing Bio Signature Software. Synchronous instruction is provided through a computer or other electronic device or over the phone. The instructional method will address the course and degree program requirements. If a student who is originally scheduled to receive instruction through the on-campus or synchronous instructional method is not present at the designated official attendance time, the student will be not be considered present for the day by engaging through the remote synchronous method.
In the remote synchronous instructional method, student engagement is measured daily, and attendance is assigned based on the student’s completion of that day’s course engagement measure. Students who do not complete the daily measure of engagement are to be counted absent for that day, and that absence cannot be changed to remote synchronous present if the student completes the engagement measure on a later date.
Attendance is measured as synchronous interaction for scheduled courses. Attendance depends on the active participation of students. Students are expected to attend online sessions just as they would in a face-to-face classroom, by avoiding non-course related activities. We encourage appropriate lighting which promotes better engagement when the video feature of Zoom is in use.
Texas College continues to closely monitor the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. As the College continues to navigate these unprecedented times, the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff remains the College's top priority. In doing so, planning efforts solely surround providing the safest environment most conducive for education. Though situated in East Texas, Texas College's student population draws from across the globe. With consideration to this, the College employs a thorough utilization of data provided from multiple sources to ensure a comprehensive assessment. Please review Texas College's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy below. Additionally provided is the College's COVID-19 Contingency Plan, as well as Safety Measures and Campus COVID-19 Protocols, accessible by clicking the respective purple button below.
Texas College as a private, faith-based institution, strongly suggest that effective Fall term 2021, all students, faculty and staff provide evidence that they have been fully vaccinated. Individuals who have religious beliefs, medical reasons and/or philosophies (or are generally indifferent to taking a vaccination) will be required to provide and/or sign a statement to that effect, which they believe prohibit them from being fully vaccinated.

Dear Student:
The fall semester is quickly approaching and we are anxiously awaiting your arrival for the 2021-2022 academic school year. In preparation for your arrival, please allow me to take the time to address a few items to ensure that your transition for the upcoming school year is smooth and successful, as well as productive.
There have been significant developments in the ongoing spread of COVID-19. As a result, the College continuously monitors the information provided by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and various health agencies to maintain a healthy, safe and secure environment for all. The College has formulated various Safety Measures and Campus COVID-19 Protocols to assist with ensuring and maintaining the health and safety of our campus community.
To secure a living space on campus for the academic year, please note that all students will be required to pay:
(Please note that both fees are non-refundable/non-transferable and cannot be covered by your anticipated financial aid award.)
Fees may be paid in advance by credit/debit card or money order. For credit card/debit card transactions, please contact the Texas College Office of Business and Finance at (903) 593-8311, extension 2231. To pay by money order, please forward your payment to the Texas College Business Office at 2404 North Grand Avenue Tyler, Texas 75702; however, Students arriving after business hours, money orders will definitely be accepted onsite.
Your financial aid award is also a very important part of the collegiate experience. If you have not done so, please complete the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) immediately by applying online. The Texas College school code is 003638. This is also required for all scholarship recipients. The longer you wait to apply for and complete the FAFSA, the likelihood of your being awarded loans is increased as opposed to being awarded grants and scholarships. For questions, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at (903) 593-8311, ext. 2299.
Online Registration for Fall 2021 classes has already began and face-to-face registration will begin on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Gus Taylor Gymnasium; however, students desiring on-campus housing may arrive beginning Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. providing the housing fee has been received by the business office prior to your arrival. Again, fees should be paid in advance by credit or debit card by contacting the Texas College Office of Business and Finance at (903) 593-8311, extension 2231.
The Fall 2021 classes will begin on Wednesday, September 8th, at 8:00 a.m. All students should be fully registered (which includes a Fall 2021 student ID and an active Texas College email address) prior to attending class on this date.
Best wishes for a successful academic year!
Sincerely,
Cynthia M. Marshall-Biggins, Ed.D.
